Painter Brian Longe returned to exhibiting after a twenty-year hiatus spent in the Sierras, deeply studying mountain topography and focusing on family life. The challenge was to encapsulate this long-term, deeply personal research in a compelling, large-scale solo exhibition.

Opportunity

Landscape had the chance to bring Longe’s aerial-inspired, geographic abstractions to life through a comprehensive visual presentation. This involved creating a rich visual identity via photography, video, exhibition collateral, and an 84-page catalog that reflects the scale and fluidity of his work.

The resulting catalog is thoughtfully structured in two parts: the opening section contextualizes Longe’s work alongside peers and art history (like Picasso, Miro, Mendieta, and Pollock) with bespoke page layouts that mirror his style. The second section showcases his pieces at an expansive, gallery-like scale
