Beacon Capital Partners approached Landscape with a bold mission: to transform the outdated Hollis Business Center into RATIO, an innovation campus located at the pulsing heart of Emeryville’s life sciences district. The campus needed a brand identity and spatial narrative that embodied both scientific pursuit and human warmth.
RATIO collaborated with Landscape to create a comprehensive brand identity that brought cohesion and clarity to a multi-building science and technology campus. The project aimed to visually articulate the mission of the organization—bridging research, community, and innovation—through a contemporary, flexible design system.
The work included a new brand identity, custom typography, environmental design, and a refreshed digital presence, all of which helped translate complex scientific narratives into accessible, human-centered experiences. This alignment of space, story, and strategy allowed the campus to better serve its diverse audiences—researchers, students, and visitors alike.
At its core, the project emphasized clarity and connection. Every design touchpoint—from signage to storytelling—was intentionally crafted to reflect the evolving nature of discovery and innovation. The RATIO brand system now embodies both scientific precision and welcoming inclusivity, marking a bold step forward in shaping the future of collaborative knowledge spaces.
Landscape partnered with Beacon Capital Partners to reimagine the Hollis Business Center as RATIO, a dynamic innovation campus anchored in Emeryville's life science ecosystem. Through integrated wayfinding, signage, branding, environmental graphics, and digital storytelling—enhanced by vibrant murals from Jenny Sharaf—the campus now visually bridges scientific rigor with human-centered space. RATIO stands out as a large-scale destination where research, creativity, and connectivity converge seamlessly—designed to foster discovery and inspire innovation at every turn.
